Welcome to the Petersens! The Petersens are Danes that live in a town called Lier, near Oslo. They are true Vikings! (Just look at the pictures below!) The family consists of Kjeld, Gitte, and Helene. After meeting the family, I think I finally understoond the term "Great Dane." Aside of the toddlers, Alex and I were the shortest people in Scandinavia!
We owe many of our great memories to the Petersens. They treated us to a fabulous dinner of shrimp... and even taught us how to pull off their heads and tails. (You stop feeling bad after the 10th one or so.) They held a fun party, during which Alex mistook the peanut bowl for an ashtray... Of course, we also had fun learning new phrases like, "How do you feel in your heart?" and "Tucson Tanks!" (our version of 'tusind tak'.) Kjeld and Gitte were also nice enough to take us on a tour of Drammen, and drive us up the spiraling tunnel in the mountain.
Here is Kjeld, Gitte and Helene after driving up the mountain in the spiraling tunnel. |
